Mike Schlappi, four-time Paralympic medal winner and two-time World Champion
has proven that just because you can't stand up, doesn't mean you can't
stand
out. He
was honored by the state of Utah as one of its Top 50 athletes of the
past century. The American Medical Association awarded Mike with their "Special
People Award" for
a video produced about Mike's life.
Mike earned his Bachelors Degree from Brigham Young University and a Masters
Degree in Business Administration from Arizona State University. As the President
of Mike Schlappi Communications and a Certified Speaking Professional with
the National Speakers Association, his presentations have inspired thousands
of audiences to adapt and overcome. He is an author who has written and published
two books about success and motivation.
Mike served on the Board of Trustees for the 2002 Olympic games in Salt Lake City. He said organizing the games and carrying the Olympic torch as it entered Utah were equally as rewarding as participating in the games as an athlete. Mitt Romney the President and CEO of the 2002 Olympic games said, "Mike's accomplishments remind each of us of the power of the human spirit to rise above all adversity. Mike truly walks his talk as he verbally and visually inspires everyone to light the fire within."
Mike enjoys traveling the world meeting wonderful people, but his greatest pleasure comes from snowmobiling and playing cards at the family cabin. He and his wife Tami reside in Draper, Utah and are the proud parents of five children.
Although Mike was paralyzed in a tragic accident, he hasn't let it paralyze his dreams. Please join me in welcoming Mike Schlappi...
